Great news! In November, Sotheby's will stage “Bowie / Collector”, a three-part sale that includes a selection of around 400 items from the private collection of David Bowie. Part 1 is “Modern & Contemporary Art”, Evening Auction, on 10 November. Part 2 is “ Modern & Contemporary Art”, Day Auction, on 11 November. Part 3 is “Post-Modernist Design: Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis Group”, on 11 November. The Auction will be held at Sotheby’s New Bond Street, London. You can’t ignore this auction. This is a very unique collection of Bowie’s highly personal, intellectual response to each artist’s individual vision!
Bowie told The New York Times in 1998, “The only thing I buy addictively is art... I’ve always found that I collect. I’m a collector”.
Firstly, the depth of Bowie’s engagement with the art world can’t be overemphasised. He was an artist, critic, patron, publisher, curator and magazine editor. If you are interested in the sale, you should go to London in November. From 1 to 10 November, Bowie’s private collection will be exhibited at Sotheby’s New Bond Street galleries in London!
Entrance, aka Guy Blakeslee, is releasing a new EP “Promises” on September 16 from Thrill Jockey! Wow! What gentle, bluesy and psychedelic 4 new songs! You never forget, Guy is maturing as a very attractive songwriter / singer.
As you know, Entrance began 2001, and in 2006 it became a trio “The Entrance Band” with Paz Lenchantin and Derek W. James. Guy relaunched Entrance as a solo project on his 35th birthday this year.
People say this is Guy’s last solo. His fans in Japan still want The Entrance Band and dream of their play in Japan again!
