|"An Adolescence in The After-May"|
(Une adolescence dans l'apres-Mai)
The cinema called "Carlos" is now on in Tokyo, and the Japanese edition of its director Olivier Assayas's autobiography "An Adolescence in The After-May" (Une adolescence dans l'apres-Mai) has come out from boid very recently. This is a very interesting book, not only for the film lovers but also the music fans like me. In the book, the thoughts and acts of young Assayas who lived after the revolution of May 1968, in France are described in detail, in being close touch with the culture scene at that time. Assayas refers to the British psychedelic culture in the 60's, the underground magazines like "IT (International Times)"and "OZ", Velvet Underground & Nico, Andy Warhol, T. Rex, Sex Pistols, Clash, and Factory Label, sometimes in feeling an irresistible yearning and sometimes in reexamining critically. In fact, really good writing! Very stimulus! If you're the ULYSSES readers, I believe you'll absolutely love this book!
I also love the book design. It's elegant, graceful, and beautiful. It's the work by Toru Kurashige, the ULYSSES Boy. And he made a book cover in using the rare poster collection from Tsuyoshi Kawasoe, another ULYSSES boy. Amazing boys! Both of them are poking their noses into various affairs as before! Hahaha!
