|"Tel Aviv Blues" Nikki Sudden|
I suddenly remembered one thing after I wrote on Nikki Sudden here the other day. That's on his solo acoustic album called "Tel Aviv Blues" released on Israel based label Earsay in 2008 after his death, and it's a really great masterpiece. In 2002, he went into the studio and some recorded new songs and some covers during his stay in Israel where he performed two gigs at that time. The album is beautiful. Heartbreaking. Wild. Cool. His song "Tel Aviv Blues" is a real acid folk. The album also includes the covers of " Diary Of A Lover" (Johnny Thunders), "Get It On" (T.Rex), "As Tears Go By" (Rolling Stones). I do recommend you the album. Yeah, that's true.
I believe the album is not a bootleg. However you can't find any mentions on the album in his autobiography "The Last Bandit". Even Tsuyoshi Kawasoe, the crazy Nikki Sudden mania, didn't know about "Tel Aviv Blues". That's no good, Tsuyoshi! So I immediately lent him the CD.
On the other hand, an album made up of out-takes from the albums in Nikki's later years has been already put out last year. The album is called "Playing With Fire". Mmm..., that's great too! But the cover painting is grotesque, that's what I don't love. I think someday Tsuyoshi K. should design his album cover! For he understands Nikki well, and he is a cool painter!
